Recently God got my attention. He showed me how much of a waste of time TV and movies are. These things don’t glorify God. It’s just the world, spewing out what the world has to say. It isn’t the Word of God. It doesn’t draw us closer to God. People just do it because it is has become a worldly habit. I’m at an age (42) where I don’t want to mess around any longer. I want to take my walk with Christ seriously and I want Him to get the most glory out of me that He can. So I threw away my DVDs and gave away my TV. Now my days are filled with more of reading and hearing the Word of God and of praying to the Father. I am redeeming the time, because the days are evil. I’m just a stranger and pilgrim in this world and heaven is my true home. Of course, I’m far from the first to have sanctified himself this way. Smith Wigglesworth read nothing but the Bible and carried it with him everywhere he went. TV wasn’t around in the days of Jesus Christ, but if it were, I’m sure Jesus wouldn’t have wasted His time with it. He was too busy doing the will of God.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Thessalonians 4:3
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:1-3
