And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 3:16-17
In these two verses we have a clear picture of the Trinity. Jesus (God the Son), being water baptized, then the Spirit of God falls upon Him, then God the Father says that this is my beloved Son. The trinity works together as a team, in unity. This is what we see here. God manifests His glory through 3 persons, yet so much a part of each other in purpose and being that they are called one God.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3
We are later told that the Word became flesh, which shows that the Word is another name for Jesus. Jesus was in the beginning with God the Father, and was equally God. Jesus spoke the Word in the beginning and the earth and its inhabitants were created by the power of the Holy Spirit.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
The Father loved the world and gave His only Son, Jesus. Jesus emptied Himself of all wisdom and power to come to earth by the Holy Spirit, who planted the baby Jesus in Mary’s womb.
How many times do we see Jesus referring to God as His Father? Dozens of times in the gospels. If Jesus is the same thing as the Father, why is He praying to Himself? God doesn’t need to pray to Himself. He already knows all that can be known. It’s because Jesus was a separate person from the Father that His prayers have meaning and purpose.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
We see the Trinity in these verses. One Holy Spirit, One Lord Jesus Christ and one God the Father, functioning together in how they operate with mankind. Notice they have separate jobs and duties, yet they work together to promote unity with each other and with mankind. God in 3 persons. Each one fully God, yet submitting to one another in love.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14
Grace comes from God alone. He’s the God of all grace. So to say that grace comes from Jesus Christ shows that He is God the Son. The love of God the Father flows through His Son Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit communes with our spirits after we have been baptized with the Holy Spirit.
If Jesus is the same person as the Holy Spirit, why did He say that He would send back the Holy Spirit to earth after His resurrection and ascension to heaven? Surely He didn’t mean He was sending Himself back to earth, for scripture clearly declares that the Son of God is in Heaven until He comes back for final judgement.
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:4-6
Grace and peace come from God alone. We see the Father (him which is and which was and which is to come), the Holy Spirit (the seven Spirits, the number 7 indicating the perfection of the Holy Spirit) and from Jesus Christ. Grace and peace come from all 3. Again, the trinity, working in conjunction with each other to accomplish the salvation of mankind.
The Bible says that holy men of God wrote the Bible as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible, He would be very confused if the only God were Jesus alone. The Bible shows Jesus, God the Son, working as a team with the Father and the Spirit. That’s what the Spirit of Truth reveals about God. We would be wise to listen to what God says about Himself. Remember, God desires that we would worship Him in spirit and in truth. That’s the only way to worship God. If we depart from what scripture clearly teaches, then we are worshiping another “god”. Let God be true but every man a liar. Amen.
Excellent! Thanks for the Holy Spirit inspired education!
