But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
2 Corinthians 1:9
If we want to be risen with Christ, we must first be dead with Christ from the allurements of the world. Death to self is the only way to life. The key is very simple: stop trusting in yourself!
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8
Obey God until you die. This is the narrow way.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
To have Christ live in you, you must walk as He walked. Trusting only in God the Father to direct your steps. Those that quote this verse, saying they are crucified with Christ, yet trust in themselves, are sadly deceiving themselves.
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:19
Christ did only what the Father showed Him to do. Notice that the Father didn’t have Jesus live like the world. He lived a holy, separate, victorious life by the power of God. That’s God’s plan for each of us! He wants us all to abide in His will and do what He shows us to do and speak what He tells us to speak.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Proverbs 3:5-7
The death of Christ is only possible if you serve God with all your heart. Have faith in God and walk in His ways, reading the Bible and memorizing the Bible and praying without ceasing. As you do that, the Lord will direct you day to day. All you have to do is trust Him.
